The history of Magnani 1404 dates back to 15th century Tuscany, when the first artisanal paper mill was established in a mill on the banks of the river Pescia. The crystal-clear, mineral waters of the river were a key element in the papermaking process. Over time, the artisan papermakers became the guardians of an art that has been handed down from generation to generation and that has spanned history in Italy and beyond due to the high quality of the paper produced.
As early as the 18th century, the paper mill began exporting its products, earning the esteem of many ruling families in Europe and the mints of various countries, who recognised the quality of the paper produced by the cylinder mould machines, as the only one capable of guaranteeing such a high level of excellence.
Over the years, famous artists including Picasso, De Chirico, Guttuso, Annigoni, Maccari, Bueno, Guarnieri, Morandi, and writers like Giuseppe Giusti and many others have entrusted the Magnani paper mill with the production of customised papers, which have become distinctive signature products.
Today, Magnani is an expert in cylinder mould machine production, and is the preferred choice of artists and professionals in the fine arts, fine art printing, offset printing and luxury correspondence sectors.
